Tully's to use compostable cup, serve fair-trade espresso

Tully's Coffee Corp. said it will use coffee cups made partly from corn that the Seattle chain said will be fully compostable.

Tully's cups will be lined with a form of plastic made from corn, and the chain said it will be the first in the country to use the cup, made by International Paper Co. of Memphis, Tenn. (NYSE: IP) Tully's also said it will use Cedar Grove Organics of Maple Valley to collect used cups and food waste from its retail locations in Washington to be commercially composted. The coffee company said that more than 70 percent of its food and packaging waste will be composted.
