HGCA reveals UK bioplastics opportunities |
|
Cereals body HGCA has published a study into the opportunities for
UK farmers to grow cereals and oil seeds for use in bioplastics.
HGCA
industrial uses manager Richard Saffod said an increasingly carbon
conscious world meant there was "tremendous potential" for bioplastics
to increase from its current low level of 0.1% of total plastics
production.
"In the future, we expect there to be opportunities
for UK farmers to provide sustainably-produced, low carbon feedstocks
for bioplastics manufacture within the UK," he said.
