| Central Market looking into bio-degradable bags, greater use of recycled material |

Central Market, as part of the company's internal efforts to become more environmentally friendly, is "looking into" using biodegradable shopping bags in its stores. "We realize that it's a bigger picture than just getting rid of plastic," said Christine Connelly, Central Market's communications manager at the company's Dallas division office, in an interview. "Central Market is looking into locating a supplier that makes bags out of biodegradable material." Connelly said the company, part of the H-E-B chain of grocery stores based in San Antonio, has been offering reusable bags to customers since the end of 2006. |
