Canon launches eco-products initiative
As part of its "Generation Green" campaign, US company Canon has announced the use of biodegradable packaging. The company aims to reduce the need for paper and other raw materials, resulting in a 45 percent reduction in energy, 65 percent reduction in petroleum-based plastics and 50 percent reduction in emissions that impact global warming. New EU Commission Initiative supports bioplastics A new Lead Market Initiative for bio-based products is aimed at creating dynamic market conditions which allow industry to develop lead markets in Europe. According to the European Association for Bioindustries (EuropaBio) the new EU Communication will provide for important support in the areas of bio-based products, such as enzymes, biochemicals such as bio-based building-blocks or bioplastics.
